Biography

Marilyn spent the first 20 years of her career with a national child care and education company, starting as a teacher then Center Director, Regional Director, Regional Training Director, Special Projects Manager to the CEO, and ending as Director of the National Project Management Office. Through her experience, she honed her operational skills and provided leadership to numerous teams.

 

Later, as the Senior Vice President of Charter School Operations for Great Hearts Academies, Marilyn oversaw critical functions that significantly contributed to the growth and success of Great Hearts. Great Hearts grew 40% and expanded to three additional states while Marilyn was leading operations.

In that capacity, Marilyn’s responsibilities included oversight of 

  • the Information Technology team, ensuring that the technological infrastructure met the evolving needs of the schools. 
  • the State Compliance team, managing the company’s financial reimbursements based on enrollment figures and state compliance regulations
  • school office managers, driving enrollment growth, implementing innovative practices, and developing robust systems to track and manage enrollment.
  • school nurses and the nurse programs, 
  • developing, writing, and implementing State approved school safety plans for three states, (AZ, TX, and LA)

In addition, she led development of a network-wide after-school program and a new preschool brand for the company, both of which generated substantial additional revenue for the organization.
